Congratulations to The New Cities who were big winners at last night’s 2010 SOCAN Awards Gala. The guys won the Pop/Rock Music Award for their smash hit “Dead End Countdown”. Lead vocalist Dave Brown tweeted, “Just won the pop/rock song award @ the #socanawards. So happy right now!!!!!!!!!” Based on the greatest number of radio spins in Canada, “Dead End Countdown” was the first single from the Quebec natives and was co-written with producer Greig Nori.
SOCAN, the Society Of Composers, Authors And Music Publishers Of Canada, is a Canadian copyright collective that licenses music and administers the performing rights of its more than 100,000 members. Now in its 21st year, the SOCAN Awards were held at Toronto’s John Bassett Theatre and was co-hosted by Kardinal Offishal, Suzie McNeil and Hawksley Workman.
